Celebrating Our 2026 Legacy Awards

Each year, the Taunton Public Schools Legacy Awards recognize staff members whose dedication, leadership and care have made a meaningful and lasting impact on our students, colleagues and schools. This year, we are proud to celebrate seven outstanding members of the TPS community.

Whether supporting students in the Tiger Cafe and Tiger Shack or helping ensure students have access to clothing and personal care items, Kristin Sullivan is known for seeing what people need and finding a way 

to help. Her energy, compassion and commitment to always showing up for others have made her an 

invaluable part of the Taunton High School community.

For Brenda Brennan, serving students is about much more than providing a meal. Her care and attention to individual needs help make the Martin Middle School cafeteria a place where students feel welcomed, 

included and cared for. Brenda’s compassion and commitment to serving every student with dignity have 

touched generations of students across Taunton Public Schools.

For more than three decades, Mary Malloch has made her mark as a teacher, mentor, colleague and champion for students. Her influence spans generations—including former students who now have the opportunity to call her a colleague. Through enrichment opportunities, mentorship and an unwavering commitment to her school, Mary has built a legacy that reaches well beyond her classroom.

Much of Stephen Green’s work happens behind the scenes, but its impact can be seen across more than 222 acres of Taunton Public Schools grounds. His craftsmanship, remarkable work ethic and willingness to help have supported our schools and played an important role in the growth of Taunton High School Athletics. Steve’s pride in TPS is evident everywhere you look.

Every morning and afternoon, Jacqueline “Miss Jackie” Coute brings a smile, a wave and a watchful eye to some of the busiest moments of the school day. Her kindness and calm presence help students, caregivers and staff safely arrive and depart each day, making her a beloved and essential part of both the Mulcahey and Galligan communities.

For more than 25 years, Sandra “Sandy” Altman has helped shape Taunton High School Athletics while building relationships with generations of student-athletes. Affectionately known as the “Mayor of Taunton,” Sandy is the person students, coaches and colleagues know they can count on. Her trademark reassurance, “I’ve got you. Don’t worry,” captures the care she brings to her work.

Steve Jacques’ influence can be seen in former students who have built careers in broadcasting, those he inspired to become educators and colleagues who still consider him a trusted mentor. His selflessness, work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile have made an impact throughout Taunton Public Schools, creating a legacy that continues through the people he has inspired.
